About the Pediatric Care Track

Every fall, I look forward to seeing all of Cerner’s partners in pediatric care, both old and new, at CHC.  This year is no exception… as the “build your agenda” process is well underway, I see many familiar, and a few unfamiliar, names populating the list of attendees for each session within the Pediatric Care track.

Participants in this year’s pediatric care track will enjoy a variety of professional and social activities.  The conference begins with the Pediatric SIG meeting at 3:45 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 4, when attendees will hear about the latest developments in pediatric care.  Participants then have the opportunity to attend the general session and tour the Solutions Gallery Sunday night.

Monday morning will continue the excitement, with more general sessions and a Power Session, building to the Pediatric Care keynote address at 10:30 am.  Dr. Sajjad Yacoob, Childrens Hospital Los Angeles chief medical information officer, will share CHLA successes with automation.  Since implementing the Cerner Millennium system in 2004, CHLA has saved $22 million in efficiencies. More importantly, the EMR system, known as Knowledge Information and Decision Support, or KIDS, has led to greater patient safety and quality care.

Monday evening, from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m., attendees will have the opportunity to network and collaborate with other pediatric clients while enjoying appetizers at our pediatric reception.

The conference culminates Tuesday night with The Bash.   Some of you may be too young to remember Three Dog Night, but many of us recall their music as the finale to the decade of Peace and Love.  The sentiment “joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea” inspires children and adults alike to celebrate the moment.  I hope you can join us in that moment.
